Hemorrhoids are awful things. They can cause a great deal of pain and, if you do not know how to deal with the pain, things are just going to get a whole lot worse. On this page, we are going to take a very brief look at the various causes of hemorrhoids.
1. Obesity: the vast majority of people who suffer from hemorrhoids are actually obese. This is because the weight of your body is going to be putting a lot of pressure on your lower extremities. This is the same reason as to why pregnant women are more likely to suffer from hemorrhoids. Thankfully, with the right diet and exercise regime, you can completely eliminate this as a cause of your hemorrhoids. Most people who regularly suffer from hemorrhoids lose weight and never suffer from them again.
2. Constipation: This is another major cause of hemorrhoids. Constipation puts so much pressure on your hemorrhoids as you start to pass that stool. This can cause a serious amount of pain. There are a number of things which can lead to constipation. Many of the issues can, thankfully, be dealt with rather quickly. For example; if you are dealing with constipation as a result of a lack of fiber in your diet or, simply, down to poor bathroom habits.
3. Diarrhea: it can also go the other way! Many people may suffer from hemorrhoids due to diarrhea. Yes, the stool is going to be soft, but it is still going to be putting a lot of pressure on the lower reaches of your body as you start to ‘pass’ it out. You will need to take a look at what is causing your diarrhea if this is an issue which you ever want to deal with.
4. Spinal cord injuries: this is a cause of constipation which very rarely seems to get mentioned. This is because it is very rare that it will cause constipation, but it can happen. A spinal cord injury will lead to bad posture which, in turn, puts a lot of pressure on the bottom of your body, which is going to lead to hemorrhoids. You will need to talk to your doctor about how you are going to deal with spinal cord injuries. They should be able to help you out.
5. Colon cancer: thankfully, this is not very common as a cause of hemorrhoids. However, if you visit your doctor they may want to check you over for a few other symptoms to make sure that you are not suffering from colon cancer. The symptoms should be fairly obvious. The symptoms, quite often, are the same as hemorrhoids.
6. If you are sitting or standing for long periods of time, you will have to be dealing with an increased risk of hemorrhoids. This is because, once again, you are going to be increasing the amount of pressure on the lower reaches of your body. It is vital that you mix up standing and sitting.
