Is There a Long-Term Cure for Hemorrhoids?

Hemorrhoids can be largely avoided just by making a few lifestyle changes. Chronic hemorrhoids that are recurring can take a toll on you mentally because you will constantly be worried about when the next episode is going to occur. All these worries can be avoided with a few good habits.

The truth of the matter is that you can prevent hemorrhoids by evaluating your daily habits, routines and diet and making the necessary changes. You must be proactive and strive to adopt a lifestyle that discourages the hemorrhoids from rearing their ugly heads. By doing so, you will be less prone to getting this embarrassing problem and will also be able to avoid invasive surgery.

We live in a fast paced society and career demands can make life hectic. We are so focused on our careers, money and family demands that we neglect our health. All good health begins with a clean, healthy diet. Yet, all too often, we neglect our nutrition and just eat whatever is convenient or comes by our way. This impacts our health, emotions and digestive processes negatively.

If you have hemorrhoids, you absolutely must focus on your diet. It is imperative that you do this to arrest the problem in its tracks. You need a diet that is rich in fiber. Getting enough fiber into your system is one of the best things that you can do to prevent hemorrhoids.

The fiber will soften your stools while strengthening your rectal veins and valves around the anus. What does this mean to you? It means that you will no longer need to stress and strain when passing stools. This will prevent rectal pain and discourage hemorrhoids.

You will need to amp up your diet with generous servings of fruit and vegetables. Include lots of grain, healthy cereals and whole-wheat pastas in your diet. You could even use a fiber supplement. Generally, a male adult should consume about 35 grams of fiber daily and a female adult requires a minimum of 22 grams of fiber daily.

By being aware of your diet, you will be more likely to make better food choices and avoid foods such as junk food, processed foods, etc. Just by changing your diet, you will be avoiding a lot of potential health problems that are plaguing society these days.

Our diets are rich in over-processed foods, chemicals, hydrogenated oils, white sugar, etc. All these are detrimental to one’s health and cause constipation. The high carbohydrate consumption worsens the situation and also leads to obesity, which explains why obesity has reached epidemic proportions.

Avoid these foods which cause dry, hard stools. You will get constipated and this will inevitably lead to hemorrhoids if you are predisposed to the problem.

One of the most common causes of hemorrhoids is frequent constipation. The repeated straining and excessive pressure takes affects the veins and rectal walls adversely. Paradoxically, hemorrhoids can also be caused by recurrent diarrhea that occurs when one consumes fatty foods, caffeine, alcohol and even medications in excess.

It may seem mind-boggling that even watery stools cause hemorrhoids. What most people do not realize is that diarrhea that happens often also damages the rectal veins due to the constant moving of the bowels. Drink 6 to 8 glasses of water daily to encourage regular and healthy bowel movement.

Besides your diet, you should exercise regularly too. A highly sedentary lifestyle is not good for the body. You must engage in regular physical activity to promote healthy weight, an optimal digestive system and the exercise will also reduce your stress. By doing all these, you will also indirectly lower your chances of getting hemorrhoids.

Practice good hygiene. Wipe cleanly and completely after a bowel movement. Moisture and feces left behind will encourage hemorrhoids. Shower or bathe daily to be as clean as possible.

Just by adopting the tips in this article, you will be able to prevent hemorrhoids. This is a long-term solution. Do not pin your hopes on surgery which is usually a last option and only reserved for very rare cases. Do your best to change your lifestyle for the better and you will be hemorrhoid-free.
