6 Mistakes That Causes Hemorrhoids to Flare Up!

Do you have hemorrhoids? Do they appear to be getting worse? Well, luckily you have stumbled across this article. There are plenty of mistakes that you could be making in your day to day life which could really be causing those hemorrhoids to flare-up. Here are six of the most common:

1. Sitting for Long Periods of Time
It is no secret that hemorrhoids tend to flare-up when a lot of extra weight is placed on the lower regions of the body. You are going to be doing this if you sit down for long periods of time. Every hour or so, go for a walk. It doesn’t have to be long. Five minutes is more than enough.

2. Lifting Heavy Objects
Gym goers and those who do manual work tend to be most prone to hemorrhoids. This is, in part, down to the fact that lifting heavy objects puts a lot of strain on the lower reaches of the body. Try to avoid it if you can. If you do need to lift weighty objects, lift it properly.

3. Constipation or Diarrhea
OK. You can’t really help this. However, if you have the symptoms of either, then you are going to need to deal with the cause sooner rather than later. The longer you let your constipation or diarrhea go on, the more likely you are to suffer from hemorrhoids.

4. Keep your Anus Clean
After you have passed a stool, make sure you give your anus a good clean. Even the smallest amount left behind is going to result in a higher chance of hemorrhoids. It is suggested you clean off in the shower for the most effect. In addition to this, if you live in a particularly hot and humid area, you are going to want to make sure you give the region a good clean every single day. Hot and sweaty is a bad sign when it comes to avoiding hemorrhoids.

5. Laxatives
Do not use them unless you have to do so. Laxatives cause loose stools. As you may well know, loose stools are one of the major causes of hemorrhoids. In some cases, if you have hemorrhoids, your doctor may prescribe you with some sort of laxative. Make sure you only use them as directed. Some people do not. At the most, they should only be used for a week at a time.

6. Sitting on the Toilet
This is an incredibly common mistake. You should never be sitting on that toilet for more than fifteen minutes. If you are straining to pass a stool, then give up and come back later. Do not hang around as sitting for long periods of time and straining to pass a stool is going to be a quick route to hemorrhoids. This means absolutely no reading or playing with your smartphone when you are sitting on that toilet! (something which many people actually end up doing!)
